Tigers chairman to open trade show

Hull City chairman Assam Allam is to be the guest speaker at the area’s largest annual business event.

Mr Allam – who owns Melton-based Allam Marine and last year took over as chairman of Hull City FC – will open Chamber Expo 2011 at the Bonus Arena on Tuesday, June 7.

He will then speak to a business audience at a lunch at the KC Stadium.

Mr Allam will speak about his career, which saw him develop Allam Marine into a £132m turnover business and twice win Queen’s Awards for Enterprise – in 2006 and 2010.

He is also expected to give an insight into the takeover of Hull City last year.

Chamber Expo is the area’s largest annual business event – and about 2,000 businessman and woman are expected to attend the two-day show.

Part of Business Week, it is run over June 7 and June 8 at the Bonus Arena in Hull and will feature more than 100 exhibition stands.

Mr Allam said: “I am very pleased to have been asked to open Chamber Expo 2011 because events like this get businesses working together, helping the local economy to grow.”
