Trampling cows kill man and injure another

A man has been trampled to death by a herd of cows, say police.

The incident happened in a field in Turleigh, near Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, yesterday afternoon.

The emergency services were called at about 12.30pm but the man, in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital in Bristol.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said they received reports of two men being trampled in a field in Turleigh.

He added: “One man in his 60s was pronounced dead and another man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.” He said the man was being treated for a punctured lung and broken ribs. The cattle were moved into a nearby field and “pose no threat” to other members of the public.”
