A171 collision: Road to Whitby closed and diversions in place through Robin Hood's Bay after serious crash
North Yorkshire Police have confirmed a serious collision on the A171 near Whitby.

The force said: "We're currently at the scene of a serious collision. The A171 Whitby road is closed at the Ruswarp turn-off for traffic heading northbound. Traffic is being directed through Ruswarp.
"It will also be closed at the Robin Hood's Bay turn-off and traffic heading south will be directed through Robin Hood's Bay or Hawsker. Please avoid the area whilst emergency services respond and use alternative routes. Thanks."
