A1(M) traffic: Delays of an hour and five miles of traffic due to crash on motorway

Drivers are being warned to expect long delays after a crash closed a number of lanes on a motorway in Yorkshire.

Three lanes of the A1(M) near Leeds have been closed following the crash, National Highways said.

The crash happened on the southbound carriageway of the motorway.

National Highways, the agency which looks after motorways and major roads in Yorkshire and beyond, said there is around five miles of congestion shortly after 7.30am.

It said drivers could expect delays of up to an hour to their journeys.

A statement posted on X said: “3 Lanes (of 4) are closed on the A1M southbound between J44 Leeds and J43 M1 due to a collision.

“There is around 5 miles of congestion on approach which is adding around an hour to normal journey times.”
