Amateur cyclist seriously injured in collision with coach on Tour de Yorkshire Ride

A CYCLIST taking part in the  Sportive Tour de Yorkshire  Ride for members of the public  suffered serious injuries after colliding with a coach in Sheffield.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following the serious collision in the Wortley area of Sheffield today.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At around 11.15am today (Sunday April 30) it is reported that a male cyclist and a Scania light green and yellow coach were involved in a collision in Finkle Street Lane, Wortley, at the junction with Plank Gate.

"The cyclist, whose age is currently unknown, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. He is understood to have been taking part in the Sportive, the Tour de Yorkshire Ride.

"Witnesses to the collision are asked to call 101 or email [email protected] quoting incident number 472 of 30 April 2017."
