A cyclist is in hospital awaiting an operation after being knocked from her bike in York

She received several broken ribs and broken fingers on her left hand following the collision on Tuesday with a silver 4x4 at Boroughbridge Road with the junction for Malvern Avenue.

Due to her injuries she was taken to York District Hospital by ambulance and remains in hospital while the driver of the vehicle continues to help police with the investigation.

North Yorkshire police is appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle or cyclist prior to the collision, to get in touch.
