Doncaster North services, M18: Yorkshire service station evacuated due to lorry 'leaking chemical substance'

A Yorkshire service station has been evacuated by fire crews after a lorry was found to be leaking a chemical substance.

A 50m cordon has been placed around the lorry, which is parked at Doncaster North services on the M18, at junction five.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it has several crews dealing with the incident, and has asked for drivers to avoid the area if possible.

A statement from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We currently have several fire crews at an incident at Doncaster North Services on the M18, Junction 5. A lorry is leaking a chemical substance. A 50m cordon is in place around the vehicle.

“The service station area has been evacuated. Due to the traffic, firefighters are asking people to avoid the area while the incident is being dealt with.”
