East Coast Main Line: Bus replacements scheduled as North Yorkshire railworks start this weekend
Network Rail has warned passengers of disrupted journeys as engineers complete railway improvements on the East Coast Main Line over coming weekends.
Replacement buses have been scheduled for routes between Doncaster, Leeds and Darlington over the next two weekends (Oct 24-25 and Oct 31-Nov 1).
These improvements will coincide with the Transpennine Route Upgrade, which is installing a new road bridge at Church Fenton.
From Oct 24 to Nov 1, there will be a replacement bus service between York and Leeds, with additional buses stopping at stations between York and Micklefield.
“These upgrades will help reduce the need for unplanned repairs, improve performance and support a more reliable railway for years to come,” said Gunnar Lindahl, joint operations director for Network Rail and LNER.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and we thank passengers for their patience while we complete these important improvements,” he added.
A spokesperson for the train operating companies added: “Anyone planning to travel should check before they set off, as many services will be amended and some journeys may take longer than usual or involve a rail replacement bus.”
