Firefighters contain major blaze at Cropton Forest in North Yorkshire
About 45 firefighters were called to tackle two areas which were ablaze at Cropton Forest near Pickering on Tuesday afternoon.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said nine engines from across the county were dispatched to the scene at 2.30pm along with two Argocat 8x8 multi-terrain vehicles.

Hide AdA spokesman said “good progress” had been made by 9pm with most of the fire extinguished and crews were withdrawn as darkness fell.
Three appliances are expected to return on Wednesday to carry out checks at the woodland, which is on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.
