Flooded tunnel closes railway between Skipton and Carlisle

Rail passengers are being advised not to travel after flooding closed the railway between Skipton and Carlisle.

Services have been cancelled between Skipton and Carlisle and Skipton and Lancaster.

Heavy overnight rain has caused flooding at the Melling Tunnel, between Settle & Blea Moor and between Hellifield and Carnforth.

Rail operator Northern said they were unable to run rail replacement buses due to road conditions and are advising customers not to travel.
