M18 closed and air ambulance at the scene after serious crash between Junction 7 and Junction 6

It is closed southbound between Junction 7 (M62) and Junction 6 (Thorne).

The northbound carriageway had been closed to allow the air ambulance to land but has since been reopened.

South Yorkshire Police (SYP) and South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service are in attendance.

A SYP spokesperson said: “Please be aware that the M18 southbound is currently closed between junctions six and seven at Thorne, due to a road traffic collision.

“It is expected to remain closed through the afternoon and therefore the public are asked to avoid the area and plan their routes accordingly.”
