Major delays on M62 as farmer shepherds two sheep off carriageway

There are major delays on the M62 in West Yorkshire - due to two SHEEP on the carriageway.

A farmer used a sheepdog to retrieve the sheep from the westbound carriageway - causing a backlog of traffic.

Highways officers described the moment as 'outstanding shepherding' from the farmer and 'trusty sheepdog'.

The incident stopped traffic from J24 for Huddersfield to J22 for Outlane this morning.

Highways Yorkshire tweeted: "Apologies if you have been caught up in the delays on the #M62 westbound J24 #Huddersfield to J22 #Outlane.

"Some outstanding shepherding from a local farmer to clear two sheep from the carriageway.

"Both safely retrieved and all lanes now open.

"Top marks to the trusty sheepdog!"
