Man dies as fire sweeps through Barnsley semi
POLICE and fire investigators were today at the scene of a devastating house fire which claimed the life of a man in his 60s.
Firefighters were called to the semi-detached house in Woodhall Road, Darfield, near Barnsley, at about 4.40pm yesterday afternoon.
A spokesman from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said:”The ground floor of the house was well alight. The man was the only person in the property at the time”.
No further details of the victim are currently available, but it is thought that he may be named and the cause of the fire revealed later today.
