Pedestrian dies and car driver arrested after West Yorkshire collision last night

One man has died and a man has been arrested on causing death by dangerous driving following a collision in Bradford last night.

At about 8.33pm on Tuesday, officers were called by ambulance staff to a collision involving a male pedestrian and a red Toyota Yaris at the junction of Spencer Road and St Wilfrid's Crescent.  

The male, who was in his forties, suffered a head injury. He received treatment at the scene but died a short time later.

The driver of the Yaris, a 19-year-old man, was spoken to by officers and arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.  

West Yorkshire Police said that enquiries are continuing today and anyone who witnessed the collision or the movements of the vehicle or pedestrian prior to it is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101, quoting crime reference 1317141314.
