Person hit by train in Sheffield

A person was understood to have been hit by a train at Meadowhall railway station this evening.

Emergency services say they were at the station dealing with an ‘incident’.

Trains between Sheffield and Doncaster and Wakefield Westgate were delayed by up to an hour because of the incident.

A message to passengers waiting for delayed services at Doncaster railway station said delays were being caused due to a person being hit by a train.

Trains between Sheffield and Doncaster and Wakefield Westgate are being delayed by up to an hour, with disruption expected on the line until at least 8pm.

Lines have been blocked, with buses being organised to run between Meadowhall and Doncaster, although there is currently no estimate as to when they will be available.

Northern Rail passengers travelling between Sheffield and Leeds are advised to travel via Barnsley.
