Residents back home after gas leak evacuation
Residents were allowed back into their South Yorkshire homes in the early hours of this morning after being evacuated due to a gas leak.
Engineers from The National Grid were called to High Street in Maltby after a resident drilled through a gas service pipe last night.
People were evacuated from properties at around 8pm and High Street was closed from the junction with Braithwell Road to the junction with Millindale.
Emergency services and staff from Transco attended to deal with the incident and at the time South Yorkshire Police said there was “no risk to the wider community.”
