'RIP Leeds city centre': Residents rage amid huge delays exiting car park due to roadworks

Shoppers in Leeds were left angry on Thursday night as a car park reached capacity – with seven floors of queues on exit due to roadworks.

Trinity Leeds apologised for the delays on social media, saying it was out of their control due to roadworks in the area.

The post read: “UPDATE: The car park has now re-opened. Please note that we are currently experiencing extremely high levels of traffic trying to exit the car park and it’s currently backed up to level 7. This is due to city centre roadworks that are beyond our control. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.”

One said: “RIP Leeds city centre.”

Another added: “Always parked in here, but no more. Took over an hour to exit from level 4 other Sunday. Problem is the new system not being able to go round city square in front of Queens hotel. It’s a shambles.”
