UPDATED - Man bailed over Sheffield road smash which killed two teenagers

Two teenagers have died in a road crash in the Sheffield area.

The two 19-year-old men men killed in a road traffic collision in Sheffield in the early hours of Saturday when a black Vauxhall Astra and a blue Peugeot 206 were involved in a crash in Blackburn Road.

They have been named as Joshua Fothergill, 19, and Liam Parkin, 19.

Mr Forthergill was from Rotherham and was inside the Astra and died at the scene.

Meanwhile Mr Parkin from Sheffield, was inside the Peugeot and also died at the scene.

Three other men inside the Peugeot – a 24-year-old from Rotherham, an 18-year-old from Rotherham and a 21-year-old man - were injured and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Two of them have since been discharged from hospital following attention by medical staff.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and has been released on bail.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or to anyone who saw either vehicle before the collision.
