Woman killed after being struck by vehicle on M1 after reportedly falling from motorway bridge

Police are investigating the death of a woman on the motorway in South Yorkshire.

The 39-year-old was struck by a car on the M1 near Rotherham last night (Sunday) and was reportedly seen sitting over the railings of a bridge between junctions 32 and 33.

She is believed to have fallen from the bridge shortly before 8pm.

Emergency services were called but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police said the woman's family have been informed.

The force now wants to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or who may have seen the woman in the moments prior to her death.

Motorists with dash cam footage are also urged to contact the force.
