Travelodge announces 13 new hotels

BUDGET hotel chain Travelodge is to invest £8m in 13 new Yorkshire hotels, creating 300 jobs.

The announcement was made yesterday as it opened a second hotel in Harrogate, its 32nd in the region. The expansion programme will see new hotels in Barnsley, Bradford, Brig House, Bridlington, Halifax, Headingly, Huddersfield, Hull, Knaresborough, Wetherby, Whitby and two sites in York.

Travelodge chief operating officer Jon Hendry Pickup said: “Yorkshire is a key growth area for Travelodge and we are delighted to be growing our business across the county.”

The company has also invested £6m in modernising its existing across Yorkshire, including replacing all beds with upgraded king-size beds.

The new Harrogate hotel, which is situated close to the conference centre, cost £4.5m has created 20 new jobs, and has a bar cafe.
