TV star backs appeal

ONE of Sheffield’s most famous sons, Michael Palin, has lent his support to a forthcoming day of fundraising in his role as patron of the city’s Children’s Hospital Charity.

On Friday, June 28, the charity will hold “Make It Better Day” in aid of the campaign of the same name.

Mr Palin said: “People on that day can do something to raise a bit of money.

“I’m at an event in Canada that day, and I’ll be donating a pound to the appeal for every person’s hand I shake.”

Over the next three years, the charity aims to raise £20m to pay for a planned expansion of The Children’s Hospital, including a completely new block.
