Two more arrests after series of firearms discharges in Huddersfield

Shots were fired in four separate incidents in the town on July 22, 23 and 27.

And this morning (Sunday) two men, aged 17 and 18, were arrested from addresses in the area on suspicion of firearms offences and assisting an offender.

It comes after two men, aged 22 and 23, were arrested in connection with the incident on July 27 in Holays, which left a taxi driver with shotgun pellet wounds.

The men have now been released pending further enquiries.

The taxi driver, who is in his forties, was released from hospital after receiving treatment.

A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were earlier released pending further enquiries after being arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

The other firearms discharges happened in Dalton Fold, Rawthorpe on July 22, The Ghyll in Fixby on July 23 and New House Road on 27 July.

Police say they are exploring whether the four incidents are linked.

But they said a further firearms discharge - in the Lupset area of Wakefield yesterday - is not thought to be linked to those in the Kirklees district.
