Jade Goody’s widower admits nightclub attack

The widower of reality TV star Jade Goody has admitted assaulting a man outside a nightclub.

Jack Tweed, 24, pleaded guilty to common assault as his trial was about to begin at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court in east London yesterday.

Tweed, who married Big Brother star Goody shortly before she lost a battle against cervical cancer in March 2009, was involved in a brawl outside Deuces Bar and Lounge in Chigwell, Essex, in which 21-year-old builder Tom Grantham was knocked unconscious.

The court heard Tweed, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, punched Mr Grantham in the head on January 3 this year.

He appeared alongside his brother, Lewis Tweed, 21, of Roebuck Lane, Buckhurst Hill, who also admitted common assault.

Prosecutor Alex Matic said police were called by CCTV operators who saw the fight take place.

Officers found Lewis Tweed at the scene but his brother had left. He attended a police station two days later.

Magistrates told the brothers they would be sentenced on August 16 after pre-sentence reports were conducted and both were granted unconditional bail.

The trial of The Only Way Is Essex personality Mark Wright, who is accused of using threatening behaviour towards Mr Grantham, continues.
