Jobs boost as toy store to open in Comet’s wake

MORE than 30 jobs are to be created in Leeds when a toy shop opens in premises which previously housed a branch of the failed electrical retailer Comet.

Smyths Toys Superstores will be taking over the former Comet unit at the Crown Point Retail Park, in Junction Street, with the initial expectation of creating 30 jobs.

It is anticipated that the retailer will then employ more staff later in the year, recruiting for all positions from sales assistants to managers.

“Opening a new store in the area also allows to us to offer some fantastic employment opportunities to people in the local community.

“We are looking for hard-working, enthusiastic staff and encourage them to find out more on our website at SmythsToys.com, where positions will be advertised as they become available.”

Smyths Toys Superstores already has more than 60 branches throughout the UK and Ireland and expects to open around five more in the next year.

Comet’s stores all closed when the Hull-based retailer went into administration following trading problems.
