Police in a flap as runaway emu puts up a fight
Police received reports of the bird running around in Dogdyke Road near RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire at 7.30am.
Fearing for the safety of the bird and for motorists using the road, two officers were dispatched to the scene.

Hide AdThey managed to capture the bird in a nearby garden – but encountered some resistance.
Lincolnshire Police said the bird was uninjured and put up “quite a fight”.
A force spokeswoman said: “It was quite a challenge for the two officers. It’s a strong bird and put up some resistance to being put in the back seat of the patrol car.
“They had called for a police van but it was out on another job. One of the officers drove while the other held the bird in the back seat.”
She said the force had so far been unable to track down where the bird came from.
A spokeswoman for Tattershall Farm Park in Tattershall, Lincolnshire, said the emu had settled in well.
