Singer Sheeran hints he may have married childhood friend

The Halifax-born star, whose album, Shape of You, caused a stir on both sides of the Atlantic, said at the beginning of the year that he had become engaged to Cherry Seaborn, with whom he attended school in Suffolk.

“Got myself a fiancée just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well,” he said at the time.

But when a reporter asked him whether after eight months he had picked a date, he responded only by pointing to a silver ring on his left hand.

He said: “I never do anything too public anyway.”

In February, Sheeran denied that he had married after he wore what appeared to be the same ring to the Brit Awards.

He and Ms Seaborn were childhood friends who became romantically involved years later.
