Updated: Missing Sheffield Alzheimer's patient, 84, found after huge community response

South Yorkshire Police have praised the reaction from residents after George Rodgers left his home in Ecclesfield, Sheffield, on Tuesday at around 4pm.

Police were helped by members of the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team and groups of residents who had formed their own search parties to find him.

Mr Rodgers was found by a member of the public in the grounds of a church in the Ecclesfield area yesterday afternoon.

A police spokesperson said: “A massive thank you to everyone who helped share the appeal to find George and who offered information to help the search.”
