South Yorkshire Police said earlier today that a 16-year-old boy and a man were being questioned about the killing.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and the man, aged 22, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 30-year-old man also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder has since been released on police bail.

Meanwhile, detectives want to hear about the movements of a grey-silver Volkswagen Golf in the days and hours prior to the shooting.

The car, with the registration number PJ10 OJU, is believed to have been used by the killer.

It was found abandoned and burnt out in Rough Lane, Wortley, Barnsley.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Whittaker said: “The investigating into the death of Mr Al-Essaie continues and I would again, like to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen the grey-silver Volkswagen Golf in the area at the time of the incident or in the hours or days before, to please contact police.

“We strongly believe this is the vehicle used by the suspect or suspects involved in this murder and as a result, it’s incredibly important we hear from anyone who may have seen this car.

“This car, which has an unusual twin exhaust at the back, was later found abandoned and burnt out in Rough Lane, Wortley.

"Did you see this car on Saturday or the days prior? Do you know who may have been driving or travelling in that car? Any piece of information, no matter how small, could help us with our investigation"

Detectives also want to hear about the movements of two Mercedes cars - a black Mercedes C Class, with the registration number LP66 RUH, which Mr Al-Essaie was in when he was shot and a white Mercedes C Class, with the registration number NU15 PZF, which was used to take the victim to hospital.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
