Boffins have created a new type of prosthetic hand that is controlled through tiny muscle vibrations – like LUKE SKYWALKER.

The Star Wars-style robotic hand responds to the tiniest movements in muscles, meaning wearers just have to think about movement and the next-generation limb will respond. The cutting-edge piece of equipment allows the users to control the robotic hand via arm movements and muscle vibrations. Created by scientists from Imperial College, London, the new robotic hand, detects mechanical signals from tiny vibrations instead of the heavier movements that control traditional prosthetics.
