Video: Soap squaddies meet Emmerdale stars

SOLDIERS from the Army's 72 Engineer Regiment swapped backpacks for the Woolpack when they checked into the popular soap's pub in Leeds as part of a mission to complete 23 marathons in 23 days.

The squaddies, who have covered 548 miles between Sheffield and Berwick-upon-Tweed, culminating in a military open day in York, met the cast of the soap at the ITV Yorkshire studios on Kirkstall Road.

They then went on to meet Leeds Carnegie rugby union players at Headingley.

The army says the mission behind the marathon is to raise awareness of the armed forces in the north east.
