VIDEO: Victoria Gate international award win 'will attract more people to Leeds'
The £165m development, in the city centre, was named Best Shopping Centre in the world at the MIPIM Awards 2017 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.
Coun Richard Lewis, executive member for regeneration, transport and planning, said: “I’m obviously very pleased. It’s a well deserved award but it reinforces the position of Leeds in terms of building design and innovation.

LEEDS'S VICTORIA GATE WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR BEST SHOPPING CENTREMIPIM is a four-day international property event, held in March every year, which includes exhibitions, conferences and awards.
It launched this evening with a dramatic dance and acrobatics show on stage for guests in Cannes.
Other winners from the ceremony included the new GAPS psychiatric hospital in Denmark, which scooped the Best Healthcare Development, and the Maison Albar Hotel
Paris Céline in France, for Best Hotel and Tourism.
There were also award victories for Nike’s European Logistics Campus in Belgium and impressive eco-friendly Brazil’s Museu do Amanhã (Museum of Tomorrow).
