Visitors helping to plant Dales trees

Mark Branagan

TREE planting in the Yorkshire Dales has been boosted by visitors who have welcomed the chance to make their holidays greener by choosing an environmentally-friendly host for their stay.

Cottage in the Dales holds the Green Tourism Business Scheme accreditation and is encouraging its customers to book return visits by supporting tree cultivation in the National Park.

The business is now in its second year of supporting the woodland restoration scheme run by local charity the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, which is replacing depleted native broadleaf woodlands in the Dales.

A new native broadleaf tree will be planted in the Yorkshire Dales for every customer who books early or makes a return booking for one of Cottage in the Dales’ four and five star cottages.

The popularity of the tree scheme has helped to increase the number of customers booking return trips to stay with Cottage in the Dales.

The scheme is also supporting the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust to reach its target of planting one million new trees in the Dales by the end of the year.
