Red squirrels frolic in the Dales and gritters take to Buttertubs Pass as Yorkshire is pictured under a dusting of snow

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for ice and snow on Thursday (January 6) and Friday - and some parts of Yorkshire woke up to a dusting of snow this morning.

Meanwhile, Topcliffe in North Yorkshire recorded a chilly minus 8C overnight - making it the coldest temperature recorded in England this winter.

Photographers snapped Yorkshire looking sublime in the snow, with highlights including a frosty sunrise breaking over Wensleydale, red squirrels frolicking in the Dales, and a locomotive under a blanket of snow.
