'We're still stuck here' - Drivers reveal frustration after being stranded on M1 near Leeds for over FIVE HOURS last night
The M1 northbound was closed in both directions after a lorry flipped over on the carriageway and many drivers were stuck for close to six hours in total. The road has re-opened and traffic is flowing smoothly this morning.
Last night was a different story, however.
A woman who got in touch with the Yorkshire Evening Post last night said: "We’re all still here on the M1, 5 hours now and no sign of help and no idea when we’ll all get home.

"Highways twitter feed say they are evacuating from rear (j44) but been saying that for 2 hours and I can’t see anything."
The queues began after a lorry overturned on the M1 northbound at about 3pm, but there were drivers STILL stuck on the motorway after five hours.
West Yorkshire Police eventually turned drivers around and sent them back down the motorway on the northbound side, but many were still waiting.

Police warned drivers trying to use the hard shoulder to leave the motorway that they will be caught and punished.
The air ambulance has been sent to the scene of the closure, between junctions 46 for Colton and Garforth and 45 for Cross Green.
But traffic backed up right across the M1 and onto surrounding country roads and adjoining carriageways including the A1M. A passenger sent in this photo of the traffic nightmare on the M1 currently.
