Windsurfer rescues children who were drifting out to sea

Two children who were drifting out to sea on rubber rings at Fraisthorpe were brought ashore by a passing windsurfer, shaken but unhurt after the drama on Monday lunchtime.

They were shaken but unhurt after the drama on Monday lunchtime.

A coastguard spokesman said: “It’s been a very busy year for the Coastguard and RNLI responding to many incidents involving inflatables. Our advice is to leave inflatables at home or on the sand.

“We don’t want to spoil your fun but offshore winds make inflatables dangerous things to be on.”
