Woman and children hospitalised after Bradford house fire

A woman and four children were taken to hospital after a fire at a Bradford home.

Crews from Bradford and Fairweather Green were called to Upper Woodlands Road, Manningham, shortly before 1am today.

They found the kitchen alight and used a hose reel and two breathing apparatus while putting out the fire.

Initial reports had suggested people were trapped inside but they had got out to safety by the time firefighters arrived.

The woman and children were suffering from minor smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Smoke detectors were fitted in the home and these had sounded when the fire began.
