Workers stage their own Tour de France

AS YORK gets ready to host the Grande Départ in 2014, a group of local Nestlé workers are staging their own Tour de France to raise thousands of pounds for a charity.

Seventeen workers from York, named the Nestlé Wheelers, will ride from London to Paris over four days and aim to raise over £25,000 for the charity Action For Children.

The 300-mile journey will start at the 02 Arena in London on April 18, go through Dover and the rural landscape of northern France, before reaching the finish line on April 21 under the Eiffel Tower in the heart of Paris.

Daniel Hall, one of those taking part, said: “We wanted to all come together and raise money for something worthy in a special way.”
