The little sister of the Great Yorkshire Show has been renamed ‘The Yorkshire Vet at Countryside Live’ as Channel 5 joins the Yorkshire Agricultural Society as the event’s organisers.

Due to be held at the Society’s showground in Harrogate on October 21-22, co-stars Julian Norton and Peter Wright will be the main attractions in what is promised to be a “bigger and better” weekend-long event.

There will be live Yorkshire Vet shows in the main ring, an expanded children’s section including Channel 5’s Milkshake Live show, a pop up country pub, plus other special guests.

Nigel Pulling, chief executive of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, said: “After 14 years of putting on a successful Countryside Live, we are absolutely delighted to be joining forces with the hugely popular stars of The Yorkshire Vet. We saw how popular they were at the Great Yorkshire and are sure they will go down a storm in the first ever Yorkshire Vet at Countryside Live.”

Fans queued to see the vets at the summer show, where they filmed footage for a special episode of the programme which is due to air next month.

Country Week columnist Mr Norton said he was looking forward to the October show.

“The event is a celebration of the fantastic rural and agricultural heritage of Yorkshire. Some of the county’s finest livestock will be on display and should inspire everyone from the youngest-would-be-vet to the oldest farmer.

“Peter and I will be taking to the stage and we’ve some surprises and treats in store for everyone and we’ll be holding some Q&A sessions in the main arena where fans of show will get to meet us and ask questions.”

Co-star Mr Wright added: “We are delighted to bring The Yorkshire Vet to Countryside Live to the people who watch us, it’s a new and exciting era for the show. We’re really looking forward to meeting as many people who love the show as possible.”

Advance tickets go on sale on Friday, September 1, priced £7 for children and £14 for adults. Advance family tickets are £40.
