Young man killed as he crossed road in Doncaster

The 27-year-old, a pedestrian, was struck by a white Mercedes heavy goods vehicle at the junction of Warmsworth Road and Waverley Avenue.

Emergency services were called at 10.45pm, put he died at the scene.

“It is believed the pedestrian may have been trying to cross the road at a set of traffic lights at the time of the collision,” police have said.

“But officers want to hear from you if you saw what happened.”

The road was closed for several hours last night (Saturday, January 7), as police investigated. The lorry driver was uninjured, officers have said.
