Young motorcyclist killed in Selby crash

Police are investigating after a young man from Goole was killed in a motorcycle crash in North Yorkshire on Friday evening.

The 24-year-old riding the motorcycle, who is from the Goole area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened on the A19 in the Selby district at 6.20pm on Friday, December 9.

Four cars were involved and the driver of a Citroen C1, a 25-year-old man from Rotherham, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

“Following questioning, he was released on police bail to allow time for further investigation,” a statement from North Yorkshire Police said.

Investigating officers are now appealing for witnesses and information. The crash, half a mile north of Chapel Haddlesey at the junction with Fox Lane, involved a grey Citroen C1 car, a grey Ford Ranger pick-up truck, a grey VW Jetta car, and the blue Honda motorcycle.

The section of road was closed to traffic until 3am on Saturday while police carried out a full investigation.

“Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who recalls seeing any of the vehicles involved prior to the incident, to come forward as soon as possible,” police said.

“This includes any motorists who came across the collision scene after it occurred, but did not stay to speak with the police.”
