York road closures: multiple streets affected by works across city
A wide range of temporary road closures and restrictions are being introduced across York as various works take place.
City of York Council has made a series of temporary traffic orders affecting locations across the city, with further restrictions also planned.
Among the confirmed closures, Moorcroft Road will shut overnight between Monday (Apr 20) and Tuesday (Apr 21) for telecoms works, while Keble Park North in Bishopthorpe will be closed during daytime hours from Monday (Apr 20) to Friday (Apr 24) for highway maintenance.
Short-term restrictions are also planned on Fifth Avenue on Tuesday (Apr 21), and on Piccadilly in the early hours of Friday (Apr 24) for water mains works. Bootham Level Crossing will close overnight between Tuesday (Apr 21) and Wednesday (Apr 22) for railway maintenance, affecting both vehicles and pedestrians.

Longer-running works include The Glade, which will be closed from Tuesday (Apr 21) to Wednesday (Apr 29) for electricity grid works, and Murton Way and Osbaldwick Village, where daytime closures will be in place from Thursday (Apr 23) to Friday (May 1).
Further planned restrictions include works on Malton Road, Elvington Lane, York Road and Main Street in Elvington between Saturday (Apr 25) and Sunday (May 17), with roads expected to close for one day within that period.
Additional closures are scheduled from Monday (Apr 27) at locations including Cherry Wood Crescent, Church Street, Bishophill Junior and South Lane in Haxby, while Moor Lane Level Crossing in Strensall will close overnight on Tuesday (Apr 28) into Wednesday (Apr 29).
Separate measures include a temporary suspension of a southbound bus lane on Malton Road on Tuesday (Apr 28) and Wednesday (Apr 29), and a 40mph speed restriction on sections of the A59 near Hessay between Wednesday (Apr 29) and Friday (May 1).
The council said the restrictions are necessary to allow works to be carried out safely. Diversion routes will be signposted where required, and access for residents and emergency services will be maintained where possible.
