An entrepreneur who set up a successful catering business during lockdown while unable to do his day job is now giving away the business for free.
Matt Foster, from Rotherham in Yorkshire, set up Fitzwilliam Fine Foods home delivery service soon after the first lockdown was announced last year, but it really began to thrive around Christmas time.
Now, able to return to his main line of work in events recruitment, Mr Foster is looking to give the business away to someone - including the refrigerated van he purchased, plus the company’s website, social media accounts and customer list.
‘No catch, no cost’
In a Facebook post on the Fitzwilliam Fine Foods (FFF) home delivery business page, Mr Foster wrote that he feels fortunate to be returning to the job he did before the pandemic began.
He said: “Not everybody is as lucky as we are, so we have decided rather than close down FFF and lose our lovely loyal client base, we will give it away for free to somebody who is maybe still suffering the sleepless nights we did for so many months.
“No catch, no cost. Just drop me a line if you think this would help you and your family.”
While the business started out delivering farm shop goods, it successfully branched out into more every day grocery and staple items.
Mr Foster also noted that while the van is refrigerated, it “also has a heated section so you could branch out into cooked and hot food if you wish”.
‘Nice to see a family with children take it over’
Speaking to SWNS news agency, Mr Foster said: “I want to give the business away to someone who really needs it, to someone who it will make a real difference for.
“I’ll give them everything they need, including the van and website plus lots of advice about how to do things. It’d be nice to see a family with children take it over.”
He added: “I’m lucky enough to be able to return to my regular job. However, many people aren’t quite as lucky so I want to give someone a leg-up.”
