Following the latest space foray, to the far side of the moon, we’re looking back at 1991, the year Helen Sharman became the first Briton in space.
These photos capture life around Yorkshire that year, three and a half decades ago.
As well as Helen Sharman, another leading woman of the day, Princess Diana, is pictured meeting mums and their babies at hospital.
Clubbers are pictured on the dance floor, popular pubs of the day can be seen, and a much-missed city centre attraction is featured too.
This retro photo gallery also captures happy scenes during a good year for both Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday.
And it shows some of the quirkier stories of the day, including the iguana whose disappearance prompted a police alert, and a pint-sized Morris Minor.
Do these photos bring back any happy memories for you of the early 90s?
