On your marks, get set, go up! And don’t forget to give the Richard Kendall crew a huge cheer as they take part in their charity race.

A team of amateur runners are pounding the streets training for the Great North run, aiming to raise money in honour of the founder of Richard Kendall Estate Agent.

They hope to raise money to help fund vital medical equipment at a local hospital.

His son and daughter, Claire Kendall and Simon Kendall, will be joined by colleagues and friends Suzanne Jordan, Shireen Smith, Leah Appleton, Jason Smith, Kati Topliss, Lennie Standley, Kate Thickett, Sarah Kirby, Sarah Kendall, Lukas Asquith, Donna Leeson, Charles Boswell, Andrew Leeson, Alice Duckett, Melissa Lambert, Josh Redshaw and Jess Marney. The 19-strong team will all be helping raise money for a very good cause – My Hospital Charity.

The Great North Run takes place on September 8 and whilst some of the Richard Kendall team only took up running this spring, and are complete novices, others have previously run marathons. But they all share the same aim of doing the best they can and raising as much cash as possible.

Richard Kendall director Claire Kendall said: “This year, we are supporting the appeal to build a state-of-the-art MRI diagnostics suite at Pinderfields Hospital, ensuring top notch care for you or everyone in our community. Last year, we sadly lost Richard Kendall and Pinderfields provided incredible care during his final years. Now, we want to give back.”

They are hoping that those communities in Dewsbury, Wakefield, Pontefract and beyond will help support them in the fundraising drive, to make a difference to hospital care in Yorkshire.

Every little helps, and by contributing via the Just Giving page your support for #TeamRichardKendall can make a huge difference.

The family added: “Simon and Claire, and the whole work family lost Richard Kendall last year. In the years prior to his passing, Pinderfields were fundamental in his care and support. We want to do everything we can to support their appeal to build an MRI diagnostics suite to provide the highest standard for care for everyone.”
