The Edinburgh Flyer
On Saturdays, April 4 and May 16, The Edinburgh Flyer will depart from York amid much steam and excitement. Racing north, you will pass through Durham with its hilltop cathedral, cross the mighty Tyne at Newcastle, then travel up the beautiful Northumbrian coast with views of Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle along the way.
The Edinburgh Flyer will steam over the Royal Border Bridge at Berwick on Tweed and into Scotland. The journey through the Scottish Borders offers more beautiful coastal views before you arrive into Edinburgh Waverley.
With so much to see and do you will be spoilt for choice. Walk up the Royal Mile to visit Edinburgh’s ancient castle? Visit the royal palace of Holyrood? Shop along Princes Street? Visit the acclaimed National Gallery or National Portrait Gallery? Whatever you decide to do, at the end of the day your steam train will welcome you on board for the return journey, so sit back, relax and watch the world go by.
Something to celebrate? Why not book on board dining? Experience the golden age of rail travel with a full English breakfast and a four-course dinner, both freshly prepared on board and served to you at your linen covered table.

The Whitby Flyer
Setting out from York on Wednesday, March 18, The Whitby Flyer will take you for a scenic steam journey through Yorkshire, Teesside and the North York Moors to the atmospheric coastal town of Whitby.
The route follows the picturesque Esk Valley through the northern section of the Moors, through Glaisdale and crosses the River Esk a number of times before reaching Grosmont. From there, the train will weave its way on through Sleights and Ruswarp and run alongside the Esk beneath the impressive Larpool Viaduct and into Whitby.
The harbour, busy boatyards and quaint old winding streets will greet you. Take the famous 199 steps up to hilltop St Mary’s church and the abbey, wander along the pier, visit the kipper smokery or perhaps enjoy Whitby’s renowned fish and chips, then rejoin your steam train for the homeward journey. Take the weight off your feet, watch as the scenery flies by and reminisce about a day to remember.
