Warm welcome awaits you at Cavo café and wine bar at new Cocoa Works apartment development

The new Cavo café and wine bar has opened at Cocoa Works apartments in York, not only to serve residents but also local customers and workers. Drop in to see how they are creating a sense of community at the redeveloped, iconic Rowntree factory building.

Offering a lifestyle with new luxury apartments in a former iconic Yorkshire factory, Cavo is gathering new home owners and the local community for good food, drink and company.

With events and clubs, as well as a high-quality, tasty food offering, the local company is already making a difference at Latimer Homes’ new development.

Situated on the ground floor of the 279-apartment building in Haxby Road, York born-and-bred couple Emma Hargreaves and Ted Hustler are bringing their warm hospitality to greet new residents, as well as nextdoor Nestle workers and the local community.

We want to create somewhere for everyone to enjoy. We are here to offer a lifestyle and amenities to the new apartment owners, yet also open as a place for workers and local people to meet on this side of town.

Ted Hustler says: “Whether you would like a takeaway coffee, to sit in and have a meal, or somewhere to call in for a glass of wine with olives, you are always welcome.”

New meeting place

An affordable yet quality menu starts the day at 8am with fresh pastries from a local artisan bakery and speciality coffee, which is roasted in Yorkshire.

Then from 10.30am-2pm, try their sourdough toasties and open sandwiches, using the finest ingredients.

Or from 5pm, Cavo becomes a wine bar serving nibbles to piri piri rotisserie chicken, seafood and seasonal specials.

They cater for all, including gluten-free and celiac-friendly options. Families with young children are welcome and you can bring your dog inside too.

There is also an outdoor area, where undercover, heated seating will become available.

Clubs and events space

To bring people together, Emma and Ted are also organising pilates and yoga sessions, as well as book, chess and running clubs at the event space at Cavo.

And while you’re in the building, you are welcome to visit the library which is opposite Cavo, as well as the children’s play park outside.

Cavo is open 8am-9pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or until 10pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday opening is 10am-2pm.
