Aspell marked down to return
FORMER Cheltenham festival-winning rider Paddy Aspell is set to make a comeback on the Flat at Newmarket on Thursday.
Aspell, whose brother Leighton won the 2014 and 2015 Grand Nationals, has been on the injury sidelines for more than a year.
A popular dual purpose jockey based in North Yorkshire, he is due to partner Champagne Rules in the Euinsure Handicap for Richmond-based trainer Sharon Watt.
Aspell, who has ridden over 200 winners, switched to the Flat following Chief Dan George’s Cheltenham victory in 2010 for Lake District trainer Jimmy Moffatt.
