Burridge red card proves costly

Then a last-minute try from Matt van Sertima clinched the bonus point, which leaves Wharfedale fourth from bottom, a point clear of Blaydon and two ahead of Henley with Cinderford bottom.

Leading by 14 points after 20 minutes, Hull Ionians fell away after half-time to lose 26-19 at Coventry.

Hooker Stephen Johnson crashed over and stand-off James Ferguson converted his 10th-minute score, and while Coventry were a man short following a yellow card, they doubled their lead with inside centre Joe Allott scoring on 19 minutes and Ferguson converting.

The Midlands side got off the mark on 33 minutes through centre George Worth and flanker George Oliver added a second and Cliff Hodgson converted.

Scrum-half Adam Thomas powered in for a third try for Ionians shortly after the break as the Yorkshire side eased away to a 12-19 lead, but Coventry were not about to concede the match.

Scrum-half Wayne Evans saw his 48th-minute try converted, and Hodgson touched down on 56 minutes before adding a conversion which left his side with a five-point win in the bag.

Ionians had to settle for a losing bonus point, which leaves them eight points and two places clear of Wharfedale.
