Clarkson edged out by his team-mate

cycling: Yorkshire riders rode strongly in County Durham, winning several categories at the North of England Cyclo-Cross Championships, although the main senior race eluded them.

Halifax 18-year-old Jack Clarkson battled well with his team-mate at Hope Factory Racing Paul Oldham, but the Lancashire man who is leading the National Trophy Series and is the reigning National Champion beat the teenager by more than two minutes.

Wheelbase team-mates Noel Clough and Chris Young took a one-two in the veterans race, with Clough winning by 1.35 from his team-mate at Stainton, near Barnard Castle.
