Aire-Wharfe: Wilson helps Ilkley end promotion wait

With promotion and relegation places up for grabs, much of the attention was on Division Two where Ilkley produced some sparkling bowling to crush promotion rivals Knaresborough and book a place in Division One for the first time in 30 years.

Henry Wilson (4-26), Luke Bott (3-27) and James Pearson (3-6) skittled out third-placed Knaresborough for 86, a target comfortably passed by openers Jonathan Hughes (43no) and Alex Bailey (41no).

Rawdon are also promoted after a two-year absence. Andrew Doidge (5-43) helped to dismiss Bolton Villas for 144 for a five-wicket win.

Bardsey missed the chance to climb out of the bottom two, when they lost at Calverley (202-9).

Bardsey’s Peter Pratt (41) and Umer Yaqoob (65) put on 82 for the fifth wicket but in the end Tim Lomas (4-45) and Tom Simpson (6-53) bowled out Bardsey eight runs short of the great escape.

Majid Khan and Yasser Ali hit half centuries in Thackley’s 211-8 before Nasser Jamal (3-51) and Mahir Ali (7-53) dismissed Tong Park Esholt for 110.

Nigel Danby (109) and Tom Glover (80no) starred in Colton’s 289-7 with Jack Harland taking 5-59. But Tom Boxell (127no) made sure North Leeds held on for a draw.

Division One champions Beckwithshaw took their points tally to 111 after a win at Harden, Alex Lilley (5-19) laying the foundations.

With Toby Jacklin taking 5-40, Bilton looked in trouble with a total of only 120 but a second consecutive five-wicket haul from Sajad Ali (5-21) and Richard Spittlehouse’s 4-40, dismissed the ten fit men of Collingham for 66.

That gave Bilton runners-up spot, edging out Otley who rounded off the season with a win over Ben Rhydding for whom Charlie Swallow (72no) top scored in their 187. James Davies, who earlier took 7-71, then hit 72no and linked up with Josh Atkinson (81no) to clinch the victory.

Richard Brook (96no) and Ed Brown (57) led the way as Burley made sure Follifoot’s stay in the top flight ended in defeat despite Eddie Clayton’s 62no.
